Distance education and training

Distance education: Educational situation in which the transmission of knowledge or the learning activity is made outside the presential situation between the different actors, the notion of “distance” representing a geographical or temporal dispersion of the participants.

Open distance learning: The appearance of the qualifier “open” introduces additional notions. It characterizes situations that offer greater accessibility, greater flexibility or flexibility in their method of educational organization such as MBA distance learning in India.

Distance learning has existed for more than a century, with correspondence courses. The sixties saw the birth of ambitious programs in which television was to become the new essential media of training. Today, New Information and Communication Technologies (NICT) generate the development of training systems via the Internet.

A distance learning device is primarily a pedagogical design, which will rely on learning processes. It will include resources, exercises, assessments, interactivity online, etc … and will allow contacts learners / trainers.

E-learning has the potential for immense impact: a mix of traditional training, distance learning and the use of accessible technology tools can make it cost-effective to make all training accessible to everyone.

In e-learning, it is possible to use all the pedagogical strategies from the major theoretical currents and to integrate the possibilities offered by the internet network. there is, therefore, no specific pedagogy for e-learning.

What has changed are the immense possibilities of interactivity, the accessibility of information and learning objects, the modeling of knowledge, the scripting … If for some Internet is only one more media it is distinguished by the fact that it is the only one that offers the possibility of integrating all the others.

Who is going to distance education?

Distance education is aimed at people who cannot regularly attend classes for a variety of reasons:

  > people in professional activity
> looking for work
> pensioners
> in charge
> inmates
> people away from university sites or residing at home foreigners
> disabled people …

However, distance education is marginalizing itself …

The FAD affects at best 25% of the population.
For what reasons 75% of others are not interested, the basics of this study are already known: 100% are interested, but 75% have failed before even starting, which has everything to do with accessibility, and the necessary equipment:

Computers at $ 300

An internet connection for sending and receiving information

Everyone knows that a computer does not work when there is too much sand or dust or the current is too irregular. This involves several conditions for a technology to work.

Digital Campuses, another way to meet training needs

In a context of increased international competition, the Ministries of National Education and Research, anxious to preserve the excellence of higher education and to modernize it, launched successively, in 2000, 2001 and 2002, calls for projects for the constitution of “French digital campuses”.

The main objective of the calls for projects is to manage to build a national offer of open and distance learning (ODL) of quality and competitive on the international market. With the development of lifelong learning, the needs of Higher Education have become extremely diverse.  You can read more about ODL on our website where all information are available about it.
